I think it is often times so easy to focus on the sad things that happen in life. They seem to make me step back and start worrying (something that I find  very easy to do!). But then I try to remind myself that the reason God brings tribulations into my life is to remind me of my fallen condition and complete dependence on Him, and to help me grow closer to Him.
"we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." -Romans 8:28

God works all things together for good. What a comforting thought to know that he is in control of everything and that it is not good to be anxious about anything as that is a sin.
"do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." -philippians 4:6-7

And lastly, reminding myself to rejoice in tribulations.
"Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us." -Romans 5:2-5

I'm so thankful that God has given me life. Given me the opportunity to serve Him and honor Him through my life.  I heard this song the other day on the radio and thought- man, it is so
good to be alive. Had to share it with you all.

Hi Heidi! :-) I was reading through all of your posts (I hadn't seen your new blog until tonight), and just wanted to say that I loved this post. I have the WORST time letting go and knowing that God is in control of my life, and I let myself despair over the very situations He has purposely put me in, quite often. Thanks for being an encouragement to me this evening! :-)
